The lowered seat isn't really worth it - I'm 163cm tall and have the GS - the lowered seat made a small small small difference in my situation. I'd rather have gone and bought a lowering kit from Rally Raid or something similar and ignore the lowered seat option all together.

Kind of like a "slammed" GS. He is really short- 26" inseam. He originally had the OEM "lower" seat from day one, had boots resoled with an extra inch added to the soles, and still struggled with the height. Not anymore- he loves the new shocks. He is still using the lower seat.

Funny thing is the 50mm lowering kit still keeps the front 10mm taller then the F650GS twin not including the extra height of the F800GS front wheel, my advice to most is get the 1" Hyperpro kit and get the Touratech low comfort seat, that combo gives you 2" of extra stand over and retains most of the off road capabilities and the Touratech

I would imagine the low suspension firms up faster in the compression stroke (compared to the 'tall' suspension) on the same settings but both are probably going to bottom out at the same height. 40k miles on low 1200 GS's and nary a bottom out or scraped hard part from dragging in the corners. South New Jersey - Not far from Philadelphia. Got a new BMW f 750 Low suspension bike for my wife who is 5-1 . As even that low bike was too high for her I have asked my shop to install the Touratech lowering kit. After installation it seems that the bike side stand is too high which worries me that the bike may flip over. Here are few pictures.
