obviously being a 16v there is not allot of torque lower down the rev range in fact the 1.2 gives more poke from 1000 to 3000 rpm. the 1400 16v comes in to it's own above 3500 and more so from 4 upwards. the throttle response is nothing to do with the fly by wire system.
