Now I have a G400 CDI, and it starts up fine when warm, but not so good when cold. When I start runs for a few seconds then turns off. I have to keep the revs up when i start and then once warm, stays on. Once on car drivers perfectly fine. Literally only has issues on cold starting. These are the things that I have done to try and rectify Problem.

The thing is that i was quoted about 1500euros and no sealing kit available. But the major issue lies on the pump part number. As it seems, the G400 CDI was initially supplied with a ps pump made by zf up until a specific VIN (mine included) and then replaced with another pump made by LUK. The second pump does not replace the first under epc.
Take the EGR off the engine. Soak and scrub the valve and the manifold that goes to the valve in a strong degreaser. It may take some time to really clean it up. The most likely problem is 40 in the attached picture. Still, I would carefully clean out all the EGR parts.
